Mumbai to Malvan Taxi

The distance between Mumbai and Malvan is around 500 km, which is best travelled in a good private taxi with a professional driver, who has complete knowledge of the route, road conditions and the stopovers on the way.

The common route to reach Malvan from Mumbai is via NH 66. It is around 490 km long and will take close to 10 hours of drive. Another route is around 530 km long and requires a similar amount of travel time. It is via Bengaluru – Mumbai Highway, which then joins the Mumbai-Pune Highway and then the Mumbai-Satara highway.

Sindhudurg Fort

Built in 1164, during the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sindhudurg Fort presents an excellent display of naval strategies back then. Its majestic walls and gateways, 42 bastions spread over 48 acres of land is going to leave you spell bound. You can reach this fort by ferry, which is mostly stopped during the rainy season. 

Rameshwar Temple

When exploring Malvan, do not forget to visit this ancient temple and seek blessings of Lord Shiva, who is also known by the name of Inamdar Shri Dev Rameshwar. Built in the Konkan architectural style, this temple dates back to 1664. 

Malvan Marine Sanctuary

Built in 1987, this marine sanctuary promises an enriching experience. It has a rich biodiversity consisting of corals, pearl oysters and molluscs. You can also try various water activities here. One of the most popular activities is scuba diving to have a better understanding of the marine world.

You can also visit Shivasamudram Sangrahalaya Museum and see its impressive collection, which is walkable from the Malvan Jetty. Shri Sateri Temple (12 km), Wageshwar Temple (24 km) are two other prominent shrines here.

For shopping of traditional items you can visit the local markets like Malvani Bazar and Raghunath Market. The shop, Zantye Kaju, is a good place to buy cashew for  back home.

Malvan is surrounded by beaches and historical sites, which are best explored in pleasant weather. So plan your road trip to Malvan during winter and early summer months.
