Mumbai to Vadodara Taxi

For a road trip there are two common Mumbai to Vadodara routes. The shortest route to reach Vadodara from Mumbai is via NH 48. It is 423 km long and requires around 8 hours of driving. This national highway goes through Thane, Palghar, Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Bharuch before reaching Vadodara. 
Another route that you can travel in our Mumbai-Vadodara taxi is via NH 160 and NH 48. This route is longer with about 544 km of distance. It will need around 10 and a half hours of travel time.

Laxmi Vilas Palace

Once the private residence of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, it is undeniably one of the most beautiful palaces of India. Spread over 700 acres of land, it is said to be 4 times the size of Buckingham Palace. Its construction was started in 1890 and went on for 12 years. Within its premises you will find other prominent buildings like LVP Banquets and Conventions, Moti Baug Palace and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum. 

Sayaji Gardens

Built by Maharaja Sayajirao III in 1879, it boasts of being the largest garden in Western India. Spread over 111 acres of land, this park comprises well-maintained lawns, two museums, one zoo (Sayaji Baug Zoo), an aquarium, a planetarium and a functional toy train. It has more than 99 species of trees and a flower clock. 

Mandvi Gate

A prominent landmark of the city, you can not explore Vadodara without noticing this majestic north gate. Built in 1511-26 AD by Sultan Muzaffar, it was later renovated in 1736 AD and in 1856 AD by Ganpatrao Gaekwad. There is a clock fitted on top of the gate and has intricate carvings on it. It looks even more magnificent when it is illuminated on special occasions. 

Kirti Mandir

An impressive structure, built in 1936, in the honour of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of the Gaekwad Dynasty, this royal mausoleum presents a glimpse into the history of the city. Its brilliant architecture showcases terraces, tombs, domes, balconies and a central shikara with a height of 35 metres. It houses murals by Nandalal Bose and paintings by Raja Ravi Varma. 

Sursagar Lake

Located in the heart of the city, this lake is an ideal place to visit for relaxation. At the centre of the lake, a huge statue of Lord Shiva is placed, while on its side, there are many temples. Two of the most popular temples located adjacent to this lake are the Akkalkot Swami Maharaj Mandir and Hanuman Mandir. You can do paddle boating here. 

Along with the above mentioned attractions, there are many more locations in Vadodara that you must visit. A few of these are Vadodara Museum and Picture Gallery, Makarpura Palace, ISKCON temple, Sardar Patel Planetarium, Kabirvad, Zarwani Waterfalls, Surya Mandir, Nyaya Mandir (Temple of Justice) and Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum.

For a good Mumbai to Vadodara road trip, plan your holiday during the winter months, i.e., from October to the first week of March. Winters are pleasant not only in Baroda but throughout Gujarat. The weather stays cool with moderate temperature, which can be easily handled with a light shrug or jacket. 

Summers are hot and dry, with high UV index, so it is better to not plan your trip during summer months. It is better to avoid visiting in monsoon as well, unless you don’t mind a few delays because of rains.
